Sandstone June 6, 2009
I heard Brett for the first time while sitting at a Chili's Bar in downtown Philadelphia in March 2009. I heard "She's Mine" and asked the bartender if he could find out who it was. He wrote down "Brett Dennen" for me. Before flying back home the next day to Oklahoma, I found a music store and bought a cd. I am 46 years old, and my 18 year old daughter and I fell in love with the music.
She and I have been big O.A.R. fans for about 7 years. We've seen them twice in Tulsa, twice now at Sandstone, and once at The Ryman in Nashville. O.A.R. is our favorite band; however, Brett is closing in. One day I mentioned to my daughter "Wouldn't in be incredible if someday, somehow, Brett and O.A.R. would play together. Well, I pulled up O.A.R.'s website about two weeks ago and what do you know? The two of them together!
My daughter was scheduled to have her 4 wisdom teeth pulled the day before the show. My wife said "no way." My daughter said "no way would we miss this show." So, she had her teeth pulled Friday afternoon, she came home to recuperate Friday night, and we got up and on the road by about 9:30 Saturday morning. We got to our hotel in KC around 2:30. She took about a two hour nap and was ready to go! I'd say that's some serious dedication!
The concert was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for anything better. My daughter leaves for college at Oklahoma State in two months and we will continue to look for close (within 400 miles or so) concerts. Brett, how about a show at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa? We would definitely be there.

btw, does anyone know anything about the band members? I thought it seemed like an odd collection of different generations. Any connections? No doubt, though, a FANTASTIC band... just odd collection.
